Attorney Meryem Beşer
Attorney Meryem Beşer is a graduate of Istanbul University Faculty of Law. During her studies, she gained early professional experience by working in various law firms.
She obtained her attorney’s license in 2020 and since then has been actively practicing in a wide range of fields, particularly private law, criminal law, family and divorce law, labor law, inheritance, and real estate disputes.
In 2025, she founded Vira Law and Consultancy, which provides consultancy and litigation services to both individual and corporate clients. A key focus of the firm is assisting Turkish citizens living abroad with their legal matters in Turkey.
The name “Vira” was inspired by Burgazada, where the founder once lived. In maritime terms, it symbolizes a short but decisive command given before setting sail.
Meryem Beşer has a strong interest in the impact of artificial intelligence on law, especially within the context of criminal law. Her research emphasizes the principles of responsibility, foreseeability, and the right to a fair trial. She values exploring the intersection of law and technology from both an individual rights and societal perspective.
Additionally, she is working on a children’s book series designed to teach fundamental rights in a simple, engaging, and accessible way.
